Thanksgiving at BACS

I got to eat three Thanksgiving dinners this year–the first two were last Tuesday. As administrators, Kirsten Cronlund and I were lucky enough to be invited to join the first grade classes at their traditional Thanksgiving meals. The food, which was cooked by the parents, teachers or students, was delicious but the best part was sitting at the large tables made from their desks and visiting with the students, who were all wearing Thanksgiving costumes.beansforjeans They were anxious to welcome us and talk about their Thanksgiving plans, their upcoming play and what they are thankful for. These feasts were just some of the events last week which prepared our students for Thanksgiving. There were projects, programs and worship as well. We also ran a very successful Beans for Jeans food drive, sending a car full of cans and boxes to the Drueding Center. We hope that all of these events strengthened the students’ sense of Thanksgiving and helped them better understand what and to whom we can be thankful for.
