Sports & Picnic

After School Sport Begin

Our first session of after school sports began last week. Over fifty students in 5th – 8th grades are participating in six week seasons of field hockey and soccer. Our field hockey coaches are Laura D’Angelo and Aline Brown and our soccer coaches are Shane McCurdy and Tony Griffin. Our goal for these programs is to provide our students with the opportunity to experience being part of a team. They can learn what it is like to be relied on by others, to work as a unit, to improve through practice, and many other valuable lessons that will serve them in future sports and elsewhere in their lives.  For some this is their first experience on a sports team and just having a coach, teammates, uniforms and a bus can all be new to them.  These students also have the chance to try out a sport and see if it is something that they would like to make a larger commitment to as they get older.  Other students bring with them experience from club teams.  These students help model the sport and how to be a member of a team, but they also learn how to be leaders and to encourage others.  One of the highlights of our program is the way that students coming from such different backgrounds come together as a team. If you have any questions about our programs, feel free to talk to me or our athletic coordinator, Alex Rogers.

BACS Picnic

The Bryn Athyn Church School will be having their annual picnic on Friday, September 27th from 5:00-7:30pm at the BACS athletic fields. Bring your own picnic dinner to enjoy or purchase a hot dog at our stand. Then stay for a chance to connect with old friends, meet new friends, and welcome new families to our school. We look forward to seeing you at this relaxed, fun-filled evening. All are welcome.
