Presenters Visit BACS

Two presenters visited BACS this week. On Tuesday afternoon Katie Kucz joined us from the Montgomery County Drug and Alcohol Office. She shared with us, and some guests from ANC, the results from the Pennsylvania Youth Survey. This survey collects data from students in grades 6, 8, 10 and 12 on their drug and alcohol use as well as other risky behaviors. On Wednesday evening Robin Saltzman from Darkness to Light gave a presentation to parents about Child Sexual Abuse. The faculty had been given this presentation previously and thought that it was important to share it with the parents as well. This program, which focused on raising awareness of the prevalence of sexual abuse and the steps which can be taken to prevent it and react responsibly to it, fit with our work on updating the prevention lessons which are given to all grade levels annually. While our ultimate goal is to prepare our students for heaven, we must also remain keenly aware of the natural world in which they are living in order to give them the tools they need to live safe, healthy and useful lives.
