Observing Martin Luther King Jr Day
BACS was closed on Monday January 17th as we participated in the national observance of Martin Luther King Jr Day. Each of our homerooms also spent time last Friday discussing topics related to Dr. King’s work. These topics included diversity, leadership, service, non-violence, equality, freedom and providence. Each year the years of Dr. King’s lifetime move further away from the present and more into history. It is important that we take the time to teach the students the lessons of our past as they are making sense of their present and are beginning to shape their future. I hope that the discussions I overheard throughout our building on Friday made a lasting impact.
