Observing Martin Luther King Jr Day

BACS was closed on Monday January 20th as we participated in the national observance of Martin Luther Kind Jr Day. Each of our homerooms also spent time last Friday discussing topics related to Dr. King’s work. These topics included diversity, leadership, service, non-violence, equality, freedom and providence. Each year the years of Dr. King’s lifetime move further away from the present and more into history. It is important that we take the time to teach the lessons of our past to our students as they are making sense of their present and are preparing to shape their future. I hope that the discussions I overheard throughout our building on Friday made a lasting impact.
