Community Service at BACS
The 7th and 8th graders end each week with an hour long elective class. We have recently switched to the second block of offerings and students are now taking classes which include: art and drawing, technical theater, ultimate frisbee, yoga, architectural design, and community service. This week the community service class raked leaves for society members. Last week they prepared packages for Operation Christmas Child. Giving our students the opportunity to serve both those within the church community and those around the world is an important part of the education we hope to give our students. This elective class is just one of the ways our students get to participate in community service. For instance, just recently our first grade was at the fire station. Not only were they learning how these volunteers serve others but the students also served the community themselves by washing the firetrucks. Hopefully projects like these can plants the seeds for a love of service in our students which they can take with them throughout life.
