BACS receives $35,000 Grant for New Program Implementation!

Each Parent Fund gift this past year made a difference!  Bryn Athyn Church School received a $35,000 grant from the Glencairn Foundation to help fund the expansion of our academic program over the next two years.  As part of our strategic efforts to provide Bryn Athyn Church school students with a 21st Century New Church Education our Program Committee thoughtfully put forward a program that will include a number of improvements to the student learning experience in 2014-2015.

In the coming year, 7th and 8th grade students will learn Spanish and take a variety of co-curricular classes (i.e. cooking, debate, mechanical arts, etc.)  Additional time is being provided students (including primary students) to develop their computational fluency and learning skills.  These courses will be taught in a New Church sphere with our church teachings directly informing the learning experience.  This program is designed to provide our students skills that hold the potential for them to live a more useful life; supporting our school in better realize our mission.

It is projected that implementation of program changes for the coming year will cost around $35,000 annually.  The funds from the Glencairn Foundation grant will help ease the cost of implementation with $25,000 toward annual operation of the program in 2014-2015 and $10,000 in 2015-2016.  The rest of the funding will come from generous gifts to our school with the program being fully funded as part of our operations in 2016-2017.

Last year over 80% of our parents contributed to the Parent Fund (the BACS annual fund).  Gifts from our parents, grandparents, and friends helped make this possible as the Glencairn Foundation considers donor participation in the evaluation of grants.  We are thrilled about the impact this grant will have on our students.  There is still time to make a gift to the Parent Fund for this year at https://brynathynchurchschool.org/support-us/make-a-gift/.  Please consider making your gift before July 1.
