Assemblies at BACS

Every month the whole school gathers for an assembly and for three of those assemblies we are treated to performances from outside performers. These include magicians teaching us about science, musicians demonstrating different genres of music, historical reenactors, storytellers and other groups who teach our students something about their world through an entertaining show. This past Friday we hosted a group called the Soul Steppers. They taught us about the dance form of step. Step is said to have originated from gum boot dancing in the mines of South Africa and has evolved on American college campuses. Programs like today’s assembly give our students a wider view of their world than we can give in the classroom, and it is always fun to see the students spend the next few weeks trying to master the skills they have seen in an assembly. We appreciate the donations made to the Educational Enhancement Fund which fund these assemblies.
