Veteran’s Day

Last Wednesday was Veteran’s Day. While our recent transition back to online learning has shifted plans in many way, there were still classes who took time to honor this important day. In addition to conversations about the history and reason for the holiday, there were also student projects and activities on the topic. Some students read books about Veteran’s Day and drew pictures of people serving in the military. As they have done each year, the fifth graders wrote a letter to an active service person or veteran. We have received feedback in the past that these letters are meaningful for both the recipients and the authors. Veterans have given much for the sake of others and for their country. This recognition that there are things greater than ourselves is an important trait for us all to learn from.
