The First Grade Play

On Friday some of the grades were invited to attend a preview performance of this year’s First Grade Play. It is so nice that the first graders have this opportunity to put on a play. Having the experience of playing a role is a great building block for our students to learn the important skill of empathy and to learn what it is like to walk in another’s shoes, whether they be furry or otherwise.  These students are also learning a new kind of self-confidence and to work together to create something that is bigger than any individual. It is remarkable to see what the first graders are able to produce: narrating, acting, learning lines, singing, and playing instruments. It is a testament to how much they have grown since September. The students, teachers and families should all be proud of this capstone project. It is one of the highlights of our school year.
