Parent-Teacher Conferences

Research has shown that one of the most important factors in a student’s success in school is parent involvement. We are  fortunate to have so many parents invested and actively involved in their children’s  experience here at BACS. Last week was the week we set aside for parent-teacher conferences. Our classroom teachers met with each parent to discuss their child. These conferences are an invaluable piece of our school year. It allows for the parents and teachers to make face-to-face contact, which can lay a solid foundation for future communications. Parents and teachers can often see different sides of a child’s life; by sharing these views the child stands to be better served both at home and at school. The conferences can be a time for plans to take shape which will better meet the needs of the individual child. It can also be a time for the student’s strengths to be affirmed. I enjoyed the view from my desk this week as I watched parents coming and going through the halls. I knew that each conference was sending a message to our students. Their school and their home are in a partnership and we are working together to provide them with the best education possible.
