Our Christmas Program

This Friday is the day of our Christmas program.  The students are excited to perform their songs in a room full of family, friends and community members.  We hope that as many of you as possible can attend this special event.  One aspect that makes the program so special is that it involves each and every student.  It is one of the few times that our entire school performs together.  While every grade or group works independently, the program is complete when each of these performances are put together.  There is also something powerful about the variety within the program.  There are traditional pieces which we all have affections for like the sixth graders ringing us in and out on the bells, the kindergarteners’ Twelve Days of Christmas and the primary students singing with the pastors.  There are also aspects that vary each year, letting the students give us a unique memory.  Songs can be fun and make us laugh or they can tug at our heartstrings, like when the third graders enter, sweetly asking How Far is it to Bethlehem.  Each song though, no matter what kind, is an important piece of that vision of Christmas that could only come from elementary school students.  We look forward to seeing you there and wishing you a very merry Christmas.
