Reading at BACS

book-kid-2016What single activity helps our students expand their vocabulary, develop their memory, increase their knowledge base, reduce their stress, strengthen their analytic skills, improve their focus and grow their cultural awareness? Reading. From the earliest grades BACS tries to instill a love of books and a habit of regular reading in our students. Starting in first grade our credit reading curriculum has students reading on a regular basis, both from secular novels and The Word. Our library’s summer reading program extends the practice by motivating students to read over their vacation months. This year 160 students participated in the voluntary program. This was the largest amount Sharon Neiger, our librarian, has ever had. This Wednesday the participating students were invited to the library for a celebration of their achievement. November 7th is the opening day of our book fair, another chance to appreciate reading.
