BACS and Glencairn

Glencairn InutLast week our first grades visited Glencairn Museum as part of their unit on the Inuit people. This was one of the six visits our classes have made to Glencairn already this year. Last year eight of our grades were able to participate in a total of nineteen tours. These class trips included visits to exhibits featuring Ancient Egypt, vintage fashion, medieval manuscripts, and the Tabernacle. Glencairn is an invaluable resource for us, allowing our students to see artifacts from the units they are studying firsthand and bringing their lessons to life in a way no book or PowerPoint presentation could. BACS has been visiting Glencairn since Stephen Morley began taking his 3rd grade class there in the early 1980’s. In the thirty-some years since, we have been the recipients of countless tours and programs each professionally run by the museum’s friendly staff and all at no cost to us thanks to Glencairn and the Academy. We are grateful for all the ways our neighborhood museum has enhanced our students’ education and are looking forward to many more visits, including five next month.
